Lectors bring the word of God alive to the congregation. By proclaiming the word at Mass, the lector reminds the congregation of God’s love and reminds them to do his will.
Lector workbooks are provided to help you with your preparation. Time for this preparation varies according to a person’s experience, but even highly experienced lectors should spend time in prayerful preparation for this important ministry. Lectors should arrive 15 minutes before the celebration of the Mass to check the lectionary and to participate in prayer with other ministers.
